Gonnella Baking Co. Serves the Community
CHICAGO , IL . - This past Thanksgiving, Gonnella Baking Co. provided baked goods and volunteers to multiple organizations to feed needy families. Gonnella participated in a total of five dinners over the two-day holiday for three different organizations.
The largest event took place on Thanksgiving Eve at the Pacific Garden Mission and fed over 800 homeless men, women and children. For the second straight year the Pacific Garden Mission Thanksgiving dinner was covered by Lisa Fielding at WBBM radio. Two more dinners were held at a church and a hotel on the south side of Chicago feeding around 400 people. Dan Herzog, Quality Control Director of Gonnella's Frozen Products Division, has been actively involved with these organizations along with many others for many years. Dan believes, "Giving back to the community is our (Gonnella) responsibility as a good corporate citizen."
On Thanksgiving Day the last two of the five dinners were held in St. Charles and at Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington for the Fellowship Housing Moms (FHM). The dinner at the H.E.L.P.S. Ministry in St. Charles fed under resourced families and homeless people. The dinner at Willow Creek Church in South Barrington fed 25 single moms and 50 children. Fellowship Housing's mission is to help homeless or at-risk single moms and their children by providing safe, affordable housing and holistic mentoring to guide them to stability and independence. Gonnella Baking Co. helped serve over 250 meals between the two dinners. To learn more about the Fellowship Housing Moms visit www.fhcmoms.org .
