Gonnella Frozen Products Breaks Ground on Schaumburg Plant Expansion Multimillion Dollar Expansion to Increase Freezer Capacity, Create Jobs |

Gonnella Frozen Products President Ron Lucchesi was joined by Gonnella "This expansion represents a significant investment, not just in our company but in the Schaumburg community as well," Gonnella Frozen Products President Ron Lucchesi said. "We are particularly excited to embark on such a major expansion this year as we celebrate our 125 th anniversary, and look forward to the next 125 years of success." The plant, which opened in 1980, currently employs 168 people and produces about 2.5 million pounds of frozen dough that gets shipped coast-to-coast per week. The expansion will increase the company's overall freezer capacity from 3 million to 4.5 million pounds. The expansion will also house ingredients in a dry storage facility, employee services, and additional office space. Approximately temporary 112 jobs will be created during the 8-month construction period, with nearly all workers from the Chicago region. Once completed, the expansion will create five additional full-time jobs at the plant. # # # Founded in 1886 and celebrating its 125th anniversary in 2011, the Gonnella Baking Company produces over three million pounds of product weekly at three Chicago area facilities in addition to its newest plant in Hazle Township, Pennsylvania.
