Summary:
Responsible for functioning as a team member of a progressive sanitation program to maintain high standards for a bakery food-producing plant; one essentially free of insects and rodent infestation and which produces wholesome products free of extraneous material and bacterial or other contamination and which complies with and/or exceeds all sanitation standards. Performs duties in the plant, flour room, warehouse, roofs and outside area and grounds.

Description:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

 

I. Work Schedule:

Attend regularly and on time to assigned job with a five (5) day work schedule including weekends. Shifts are for eight (8) hours or more. Days off are not consecutive.
II. Physical, Mental and Visual Requirements : (See Position Attributes Attached)
1. Must be capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects, wipe, scrub, scrape and mop.

2. Mental and visual ability to identify various labels, written instructions and warnings related to sanitation procedures. Must be able to distinguish colors. Perform a variety of simple tasks following instructions provided.

3. Capable of moving up and down building stairways in a multi-level plant to reach job assignments and perform the task required. Tasks require stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, bending and twisting.

4. Capable of understanding simple task instructions and reading notices and work schedules as posted on bulletin board.

 

III. Essential Tasks:

1. Completed training on Hazardous material and Right to Know information for all chemicals and supplies used in sanitation program.

2. Completed training in lockout/tagout and confined spaces policy and procedures.

3. Following specific instructions, apply residual sprays in storage areas and mold sprays as directed by Management.

4. Clean bakery equipment, roof, fans, ceilings, walls, floors using specific procedures as directed.

5. Follow specific instructions to clean and fumigate flour handling equipment. Comply with the Confined Space Policy and Procedure.

6. Keep Management informed of any unsanitary practices that may be occurring in the plant.
IV. Secondary Functions:

1. Cleaning of work area.

2. Assist in ensuring that safe work conditions exist.

3. Job duties are varied, and spread over a number of locations; therefore, special assignments can be created on a case by case basis.

V. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

1. Preparation and Training

Work requires the ability to read, write, and communicate and to perform simple arithmetic calculations.

2. Work Experience

Job requires through four weeks of work experience for basic skills and three to nine months progressive responsibility to learn total job.

3. Analytical Ability

Little or no analytical ability required. Any analysis done involves simple comparisons between what a proper clean area looks like and job to be done.

4. Independent Judgment and Consequences of Errors

Routine work performed under close supervision or in accordance with specific and detailed instructions. Errors would cause inconvenience but limited cost in time and money.

5. Contact with Others

No contact with people outside the company and infrequent contact with team members and/or production employees in the work area. Routine matters are discussed with supervision and decisions made.

6. Work of Others

No responsibility for the work of others

VI. Ongoing Requirements and Standards:

1. During periods of unworked time or downtime, it is required that work is to be done as assigned by Supervisors.

2. A quality product is the responsibility of each employee. Be alert to handle or report any damaged or inferior product to supervision.

3. Keep area of assigned work neat and clean. Assist other employees when possible.

4. Notify Supervision of any equipment problems.

5. Maintain a high state of safety awareness.

a. Keep hands out of moving machinery.

b. Lift properly.

c. Be alert to movement of materials or other people to give right of way as needed.

6. Do not change job procedures without authorization from a Supervisor.

Perform all other related assignments and training of other employees as required by the Supervisor or Assistant Operations Manager.

 

Addendum to Job Description

Must meet the physical qualifications to perform the essential functions of the position as determined by the Physician and or Medical Clinic utilized by the Company. This may include, but not be limited to a medical history, physical examination, drug/alcohol test, audiometric test, and or Pulmonary Function Test.
