Italian Meatball Sandwich

4 to 6 servings

 
  Large skillet  
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 8 ounces ground Italian sausage
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup Gonnella Bread Crumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 loaf Gonnella French Twins, split

Mix beef and sausage in bowl thoroughly. Mix in eggs, bread crumbs, cheese, parsley, garlic, salt and pepper. Form into balls, using 2 tablespoons per ball. Wet hands for easier rolling. Heat oil in skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion until brown. Remove onions and discard. Add meatballs and cook 5 to 7 minutes turning occasionally. Spoon meatballs down center of bottom half bread; cover with top half and cut into 4 to 6 portions.
