Job Description I. Work Schedule: Attend regularly and on time to an assigned job with normally a five (5) to six (6) day work schedule, including working weekends and being on call. Shifts are for eight hours (8) or more or until job is completed. Shifts may vary. II. Physical, Mental and Visual Requirements : (See Position Attributes Attached) 1. Capable of exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. 2. Mental and visual ability to identify various parts, read mechanical and electrical blueprints, read instruments, gauges, scales, thermometers, micrometers, etc.. Must be able to do basic math calculations to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide. 3. Capable of moving up and down building stairways and equipment ladders to reach job assignments and perform tasks required. Tasks may require working from a ladder or elevated platform and in confined spaces such as bulk storage bins or tanks. Physical activities required are stooping, climbing, crouching, reaching, feeling, standing, kneeling, crawling, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, twisting, bending, grasping, talking, and hearing. 4. Capable of understanding, in English, complex verbal and written tasks instructions and reading equipment manuals, blueprints, measuring instruments, notices and work schedules as posted on bulletin board. 5. Worker subject to working mostly inside, protected from weather conditions with occasional outside work. II. Physical and Mental and Visual Requirements (cont'd.): 6. Worker may be subject to noise sufficient to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard. 7. Worker subject to hazards such as proximity to moving parts, electrical current, and moving objects carrying considerable weight and force. 8. Capable of working in environment of flour dust. III. Essential Tasks: 1. Direct all activities of Maintenance employees within assigned area to operating standards within approved staffing limits. Perform preventative maintenance tasks as assigned. 2. Working from blueprints, specifications, sketches, install, transfer, move, set-up, repair, operate or test machines, tools electrical controls and measuring devices. Possess ability to use a verity of maintenance hand and power tools. 3. Possess training in, and a thorough working knowledge of, industrial, electrical and electronic controls, including hard-wired and solid state systems and related components. a. Use and interpret date obtained from electrical and electronic instruments and testing devices. b. Able to troubleshoot, correct and/or reprogram programmable controllers and document action taken. 4. Maintain accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls and preventive maintenance reports. Prepare specific and accurate parts request forms. 5. Respond to maintenance and live stoppage calls and provide emergency repairs efficiently and quickly. Move material as required. 6. Follow company policy and OSHA regulations to ensure safe work habits and conditions for employee and fellow employees. Responsible for preventing loss or injury due to improper or unsafe operations of equipment. Responsible for following lockout/tagout procedures as well as specific procedures dealing with confined spaces and hazardous material. III. Essential Tasks (cont'd.): 7. Recommend and collaborate with management personnel in decisions related to breakdown repair options. Recommend cost savings improvements. 8. Maintain a clean and safe work area within the maintenance shop and at each work site where jobs are performed. 9. Display initiative in recognizing work to be done; display good judgement and ingenuity in troubleshooting and recommending repairs. 10. Communicate with, train, and motivate employees to achieve operating objectives with a team concept, common goal and positive attitude. 11. Maintain department records including schedules, accident reports, attendance records, absentee reports and maintenance work orders. 12. Coordinate with all department in such a manner that maximum effectiveness is obtained and maintained for the production of quality products. All actions are focused toward customer service and satisfaction. 13. Perform duties in all areas with in the Maintenance Department. IV. Secondary Functions: 1. Job duties are varied, and spread over a number of locations, therefore, special assignments can be created on a case by case basis. 2. Make pick up runs of parts and maintenance supplies, as needed. 3. Assist inspectors in drawing samples of flour and water. V. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Preparation and Training Work requires the ability to read, write and speak English and to perform basic math calculations, prepare reports, keep records and/or deal effectively with other people. Work requires, in addition to the skills normally acquired through a general high school education, specialized or technical training which may be obtained in high school, commercial or shop courses or by a brief (more than six months but less than one year) intensive preparation outside of a school. V. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (cont'd.): 2. Work Experience At least three - five years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor is required, preferably from a commercial bakery. AIB Certification is preferred. 3. Analytical Ability A relatively high level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to difficult technical problems. 4. Independent Judgment And Consequences Of Errors Independent judgment is often required. Some direct guidance is received from supervision and/or established procedures or instructions. The impact of errors would result in cost of time, money or quality of product. 5. Contact With Others Frequent internal contact with other employees and Managers. Some contact with outsiders such as contractors and equipment and parts service representatives. 6. Work Of Others Work involves the constant direction of others to plan, direct, control, inspect and follow up to established standards. Responsible for the safety and performance of the workforce. VI. Ongoing Requirements And Standards: 1. During periods of unworked time or downtime, the Manager is responsible for assigning meaningful work to all affected employees. 2. A quality product is the responsibility of each employee. Be alert to handle or report any damaged or inferior product to supervision. 3. Keep area of assigned work neat and clean. Assist other employees when possible. 4. Notify Upper Management of any equipment or Safety problems. 5. Maintain a high state of safety awareness. a. Keep hands out of moving machinery. VI. Ongoing Requirements And Standards (cont'd): b. Lift properly. c. Be alert to movement of materials or other people to give right of way as needed. 6.
