On September 11, 2016, Gonnella Frozen Products, LLC, a segment of the Gonnella Baking Company family, organized a tribute to the victims of 9/11.

At 8:46 a.m. on the 15th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, everyone in the Gonnella Frozen Products Plant in Hazleton, Pennsylvania stopped all activity and observed a moment of silence. Employees gathered around the American flag in front of the plant to show support for first responders and U.S. military—active, reserve and retired.

“As a family company deeply rooted in the American dream for 130 years, we place enormous value on the well being of all employees and families in the U.S.,” said Drew Hoben, Gonnella's plant manager. “So following a request from President Obama, we joined in remembrance ceremonies to honor the heroes who risked their lives during one of this country’s most devastating times and recognize those who lost loved ones or family members.”

While America has moved forward, scars remain for many people who were affected by the events that transpired on September 11, 2001. It is important to remember the victims and bring awareness to the next generation, especially those too young to recall the tragedy. It is also important to unite for strength and spirit to show that no one can destroy the opportunities and freedoms that have made this the greatest nation on earth.
