Summary:
Gonnella Frozen Products is seeking a Production Manager responsible for functioning with general supervision from the Plant Manager. Manage the planning, directing, coordinating and controlling of the bakery production process of the frozen bread dough plant consistent with quality requirements. Must establish specific goals and standards for each area of responsibility relative to company policies and objectives. The Production Manager will be responsible for providing leadership and ensuring clear communication of instructions to create understanding, and providing an example of enthusiasm, persistence, integrity and dependability, as well as handling conflicts that arise or seeks assistance from upper management.

Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates the execution of production schedule based on sales requirements and plant capacity.
  • Responsible for production staffing production with qualified and trained employees. Selects, develops and recommends supervisory candidates to Plant Manager for approval.
  • Directs the application of plant policies and company policies to the production operations in a fair consistent manner.
  • • Controls product quality and cost of production through appropriate subordinates.
  • • Sets up maintains inventory controls and levels in conformance with company policies and forecasts.
  • • Confers with department heads on the application of methods and production standards and adherence to establish production procedures. Recommends changes and modifications in equipment to improve quality and efficiency or customer service. Assist and participates with upper management in new product development.
  • • Reviews and approves recommendations of subordinates in personnel matters to hire, transfer, promote, terminate, approve rate change.
  • • Coaches subordinates in progressive discipline matters. Reviews and investigates incidents involving discipline recommending suspension and/or termination. Coordinates disciplinary actions with the Human Resources.
  • • Maintains and monitors reports and procedures of production activity, accurately and on a timely basis.
  • • Constantly inspects operation to established production and safety standards. Takes appropriate corrective action as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must have 5-10 years’ experience in a similar role Familiarity with both AIB and BRC standards is a plus.
  • Must have basic understanding of Quality and Sanitation in a food grade environment.
  • Must be prepared to work a Monday-Friday schedule with varying work hours to meet the needs of the plant and priority goals for projects.
  • Experience with managing a 24/7 manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience managing 7 direct and 130 indirect associates.
  • Professional level of knowledge in a specialized bakery production field.
  • Must have proven ability to create and maintain goals and objectives that are consistent with the company mission statement.
  • A high level of analytical ability is required in order to find solutions to difficult human, technical or administrative problems.
  • Must be able to work under general direction and exercised a high level of independent judgment.
  • Must have a wide latitude for independent action.
  • Management style should be of a team builder, strong leader and a self-starter.
  • Previous experience in a bakery or pastries setting is a plus.
